Thing 4

I would like to say that I would use this as a means to communicate with my teachers, but I'm not sure they would actually check it. It is hard enough to get them to check email right now.

I would love to use this as a means to share information that I learn that could be used in the classroom (tools, websites, technology, etc). I also can see myself using this more as a means to communicate and collaborate with my fellow district librarians. I have said it before, but it is worth repeating... I don't quite know enough to know any better.

Thing 3

WOW! I am emotionally exhausted after trying to get through the last hour and a half. Once we were able to finally get on the website it was fun to play around with the clothing. Once again, everything is a lot more fun with friends!

Trying to actually find where to post my Avatar picture was a bit trying, but Mary once again came to the rescue! Now on to the next item.

Thing 2

After listening to the 7 1/2 Habits video, I think the hardest for me will be to "Use technology to my advantage". The challenge will be using what I learn with my students and staff. The climate this year has been a challenging one for all of us as we work harder and still seem to be struggling to stay ahead. This will require me to be more creative with my lessons and what I do and don't present to my staff. I guess this also ties in with "View Problems as Challenges". I know that with the help of my friends and cohorts I will find ways to incorporate the new technology into my library program.

I have sat here for 15 minutes trying to figure out something that is easy with regards to this assignment. I don't know if it is my current frame of mind or what, but I can't! So at this point, I can't think of what is easy!

Thing 1

As I sit in this large library listening to the rain pound on the roof, I would much rather be at home curled up with a good book and a sweet schnauzer!

I am in fact sitting her with wonderful friends and great colleagues diving into new technology and laughing a LOT!

My initial thought and feeling is FEAR! Fear of the unknown and fear of trying to get it all done. Thank goodness we have until March to complete the 23 assigned items. Now I will dive in and get started with the help of my friends and colleagues!

As I watched the initial video I was amazed at how far behind I really am when it comes to the web. While I feel competent in the field of technology the web is obviously a whole other ball game. My goal is to gain an overall knowledge of all of these items and become more familiar with those the students and teachers are going to use.

The hardest part of today was thinking of a name for my blog and name. Actually setting up with accounts and blogs was simple.

Here's to a year of training this dog new tricks!
